We have lusted after Airstreams and now find ourselves the proud owners of a 1961 Overlander. It was tatty and rough around the edges but pretty much original within, so after much work we now have a little piece of camping heaven.

Wet weekend
We had our first wet weekend at the Airstream last weekend and it seems we have no leaks (phwew). Luckily the sun awning I ordered from Riverway Leisure
recently had arrived and it slid straight into the airstream canopy awning perfectly. It is brilliant so thanks to whoever posted about them on My Cool Caravan Facebook wall. I don't have a picture yet so you will have to settle for an interior shot!

Pull out bed

Last year Pat and his brother pulled out the original water tank and removed the bed frame covering it. In its place they built a smaller couch frame and put a water heater in there.
This means we have more floor space mid trailer but we need to build a pull out single bed. Pat and I finally came up with a simple design. It will be a wooden flat panel that folds in two for a seat and folds out to make a bed. I have constructed 3 slide out legs for lots of support. Now I just need to order the foam and cover it, fingers crossed I have enough upholstery fabric left!

No more leaks!

Pat recently took possesion of a large parcel, which was filled with parts from The Vintage Trailer Company, a US company that has parts and spares and lots of general stuff to revamp your trailer. So this little vent is now stopping the drip we had after a pipe vent came loose. While Pat was away doing this and other bits on the trailer I was covering all the foam for the goucho sofa, pics of that soon.

Interior fittings
We have been looking at flooring options and someone on the fantastic My Cool Caravan facebook page suggested Madmatz, they do vinyl tiles for camper vans. I also like Forbo Flooring, they do a lovely retro flooring but it comes on the roll so a lot more hassle than tiles.
